Improvement on Livestock and Poultry Products Sanitation and Safety Management
In order to protect the health and interests of consumers while guaranteeing the profits of farmers, COA (Council of Agriculture) adapted the following measures which are effective to ensure the hygiene and safety of the livestock and poultry products.
1. Put emphases on the characteristics of local products and improve R&D capability.
Employ advanced genetic breeding, feeding management, quality control, and biotech technology to continue product characteristic studies on local livestock and poultry products. Moreover, quality regulations will be further established strictly and promoted to elevate the overall local products' quality.
2. Promote sanitary and safe production of livestock / poultry products as well as product certification system.
In order to reach this goal, COA takes action to maintain and improve the popular and widely accepted quality excellence certification systems, such as the Certified Agricultural Standards (CAS) and Traceable Agricultural Products (TAP). Intensify PR efforts in order to encourage consumers to purchase certified products, which in turn would motivate producers to join the certification program and consequently improve the integral sanitation and safety of local-produced livestock and poultry products.
3. Improve inspection technology to reinforce feeds examination and control.
In order to do this well, COA collects relevant livestock / poultry products sanitation and safety information and applies to practical use. At the same time, also improve the inspection technique and capability of the governing institutions while giving guidance to the businesses and manufactures to assist them to improve their management, thus ensuring their products' safety too.
