Kaohsiung Green Soybean, No. 7, No. 8, No. 9.
Green Soybean belongs to the Legumen Family and it pod is green in color with villi, so it is called hairy bean in Taiwan. Green soybean is rich in nutrition, so its value is higher than other beans. In recent years, Kaohsiung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station has committed to research and development of new varieties of green soybean to enhance its competitiveness in the international market, and The Station has managed to make three new varieties, Kaohsiung Green Soybean No.7 for the production of frozen black green beans and Sweet Black Soybean; Kaohsiung Green Soybean No. 8 for the production of fresh frozen green soybeans; Kaohsiung Green Soybean No. 9 for the production of frozen soybeans. Facing the low price competition from China and Southeast Asia, Taiwan green soybean industry must set goal to make quality and safe food, therefore, the industry has to keep developing good breeds, and to take special care in every stage of the green soybean production, including cultivation, transportation, processing, as well as marketing in order to win the leading position in the international market.
