2006 Top 10 Agricultural Production and Marketing Groups Declared

To promote the marketing and enterprise management production efficaiency of agriculture, the Council of Agriculture (COA) heldset an evaluation award for the 10 excellent Agricultural Production and Marketing Groups. The list of awards was announced, which includinge the 18th Group of Fruit Trees Group from Shinpu, Hsinchu County and the other 9 Groups. Each Group will receive NT$200,000, and the award ceremony will be held some other day.

The 10 winners were chosen from more than 6,100 Agricultural Production and Marketing Groups nationwide in initial stage. With a series strict selection through the country-level governments to the city/county governments, only 29 Groups entered the final stage competition.

” To ensure the quality high honor of those groups the nationwide evaluation, weCOA invited experts and scholars to compose a committee in the early May this year, and the committee chose the best 10 Agricultural Production and Marketing Groups with a fair and open transparent procedure,” said the Council of Agriculture.

The winners are the 18th Group of Fruits GroupTrees Group production and marketing transparent-Group from Shinpu, Hsinchu County, the 63th fruit Group of Fruit Trees Group from Jtuolan, Miaoli County, the first citrus Group of Citrus Group from Fongyuan, Taichung County, the 21st Group of Grape grape Group from Dacun, Changhua, the first Group of Special Crops Group from Jhushan, Nantou County, the 13th Group of Vegetable Group from Taibo, Chiayi County, the 20th Group of Fruits Trees Group from Nanhua, Tainan County, the first Group of Fruit Trees Group from Mei-nong, Kaohsiung County, the first Group of Rice Group from Yuli, Hualien County, and the Organic Rice Group from of Luye, Taitung County.

COA pointed out that the ten best10 top Production and Marketing Groups are awarded for the efforts at upgrading thentheir product quality and their production efficaiency industry and local development. They produce high-quality agriculture products, and build their own brands, marketing business their products with creative and outstanding ideas and performances. Their achievement also contributes a lot to their local community development.

The key to success is integrating individuals into groups to share the advantage brought by economic scale, according to COA. This has becomeis one of COA’s main policyies in developing promoting Taiwan agriculture. To enhance and implement the policy, COA holds the evaluation system of the best ten Production and Marketing Groups. By Through the selecting and awarding of the best ten Groups as models of learning, COA expects to boost the functions and management efficiency for higher increase the competitiveness of in the Taiwan’s agricultural products in the international market.
