A Decade of Flourishing Splendor: 2014 Taiwan International Orchid Show Kicks Off

The 2014 Taiwan International Orchid Show was scheduled to be held on March 8-17, 2014 at Taiwan Orchid Plantation (No.325, Wushulin, Houbi Dist, Tainan City). The Council of Agriculture stated that 2014 marks the show's 10th anniversary, and the occasion is celebrated with the main exhibition theme "AMAZING 10" which divides the show into 10 areas this year including the Orchid Fantasy Pavilion, Orchid Competition Area, 10 Year Retrospective, Orchid Community Pavilion, Biotech Life Pavilion, The Rare Orchid Pavilion, Tainan Agriculture Pavilion, Exotic Pavilion, Business Meeting Area, and Recreational Area where visitors can enjoy the picturesque views of Wandai Lake. More than 3,000 visitors and buyers from 36 countries would participate in this big event.

The COA explained that each of the pavilions in this year's show offered its own unique style. The Orchid Fantasy Pavilion employs a collection of different species of orchids along with brilliant lighting effects and superb landscape layouts. Visitors are invited to the fantasy world of the "Orchid Carnival"! The 10 Year Retrospective Area uses 360° perspective animated projections to show a decade of achievements. As for the Orchid Competition Area, it showcases about 1,500 individual plants from all over Taiwan to be judged by 200 experts, culminating in a grand champion winner. Moreover, there is an area devoted exclusively to the display of rare orchids which is truly a feast for the eyes. The Exotic Pavilion displays exotic orchids from 11 participating countries, such as Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and Canada. The Orchid Community Pavilion is an artistic exhibition space for orchids, which displays merchandises by well-known designers that combine orchids with traditional art.
