Following Shu-Sheng Leisure Domaine winning a Gold Medal at the Vinalies Internationales in March with its Pu-tao wine, the Council of Agriculture (COA) has again assisted rural wine producers to participate in yet another international competition and achieved high global recognition. Two refined liquors from Wu-Feng District Farmers' Association named Initial Fog Shochu and Initial Fog Pure Rice Wine were selected to join the International Spirits Award Competition. Surrounded by strong traditional winemaking countries such as France, the United States, Australia, and Chile, the two Taiwanese entries excelled against all odds and won silver medal. This outstanding achievement has enabled excellent alcoholic products from Taiwan to be heard in the world.

Elite international judges were captivated by Taiwan's local fine brewery

The COA stated that Wu-Feng District Farmers' Association utilizes local Yihchuan aromatic rice as the main ingredient, which has a special fragrance of taro. Through the traditional Japanese yeast cultivation technique and low temperature fermentation, these two liquors preserve a sweet-scented milky aroma. The COA further explained that the 11th International Spirits Award is an authoritative standard competition recognized by international liquor associations.
