The Council of Agriculture (COA) stated that Taiwan and Indonesia signed the Agricultural Cooperation Agreement in Taipei on May 12. The said pact was signed by the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, Indonesia (TETO) representative Chang Liang-jen and the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei representative H.E. Arief Fadillah. Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) were invited to attend the signing ceremony, which was followed by the first agricultural consultation meeting in the afternoon.

　　 The Taiwan-Indonesia Agricultural Cooperation Agreement would establish a new milestone for bilateral agricultural cooperation between the two countries, strengthening the partnership. Both nations vow to join forces based on the principle of equality and reciprocity, and would cooperate or jointly invest on areas such as crops, horticulture, stock farming, and slope crop improvement. Collaboration in these areas should help the two sides promote marketing, human resources development, food diversification, the development of campus and household vegetable gardening, agricultural machinery, horticulture, and land irrigation among others.

　　The Taiwan side pointed out that Indonesia is a crucial economy of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Under the agreement, a regular dialogue would be developed to facilitate exchanges of agricultural technologies, market access, and industry information.
