“Agriculture: The Foundation of Our Nation - A Special Exhibition from the Taiwan Agriculture Archives”

  Jointly organized by the Council of Agriculture (COA) and the National Development Council, the “Agriculture: The Foundation of Our Nation - A Special Exhibition from the Taiwan Agriculture Archives” would be open to the public at the National Taiwan University Agricultural Exhibition Hall from August 18 to October 29. At the opening ceremony which was held on August 18, COA Deputy Minister Weng Chang-liang stated that the organizers wish to present the development of important agricultural policies in the past and pass on Taiwan's agricultural experience through the exhibition of various forms of historical files and documents, therefore enhancing the general public’s understanding toward them. Besides finding a more practical application for the historical archives, the exhibition also reminds us that our country was built on the foundation of agriculture. Deputy Minister Weng invites the people of Taiwan to visit this exhibition.

  The COA stated that the said special exhibition showcases six themes , Evolution of Agricultural Organizations, Commencement of Taiwan’s Agriculture, Agricultural Land Policy and Mass Production, Agriculture as the Main Source of Revenue, Growth and Structural Transformation, and Agricultural Advancement. Each theme is presented according to content and chronological order, which reflects the development of Taiwan’s agriculture, forestry, fishery, and livestock farming during different periods, as well as the evolution of agriculture organizations and their missions, agriculture policy implementation and achievement, agriculture today and future perspectives. The exhibition aims to make people realize the important role of agriculture in different periods. There are also various interactive exhibitions and installations on site for visitors to experience and take photos. Furthermore, an on-line exhibition was designed to increase the overall visiting experience of the public with several interesting games that cater to all ages, making it more accessible for visitors to understand the development of agriculture in Taiwan.

  The exhibition takes place at the National Taiwan University Agricultural Exhibition Hall (Address: No.1, Sec. 4, Roosevelt Rd., Da’an Dist., Taipei City), from August 18 to October 29. Open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on Sundays and national holidays. The admission is free for all. After October 29, the exhibition would be transferred to the Exhibition Hall of the National Archives Administration, National Development Council (Address: 1F., North Tower, No.439, Zhongping Rd., Xinzhuang Dist., New Taipei City) and continue to exhibit from November 18 to June 30, 2017.
