  1. “The progress report on the prevention of illicit trade and use of pork from dead pigs” was presented at the Executive Yuan’s regular meeting numbered 3028. The premier’s instructions at the meeting were: 1) all the concerned ministries and law enforcement units are to join hands in an effort to crack down on the trade and use of pork from dead pigs; 2) the Environmental Protection Administration and the Council of Agriculture are jointly to come up with a measure to incorporate pig farms with less than 3000 heads under the industrial waste management system; 3) the COA is to expand the pig death insurance; 4) the COA should implement the traceability system for pig production as soon as possible; 5) the Department of Health is to enforce the inspection on the meat source for the food industry; and 6) all the concerned ministries are to continue handle the responsibilities under their authorities.
  2. “The scholarship application guideline for the children of farmers and fishermen” was revised and announced.
  3. “The management principles on the declaration for the production of important livestock and poultry products” was formulated and announced.
  4. “The adjustment measures for the agricultural production during the lunar new year festival” were established.
  5. “The guidance to subsidy the exports of agri-products by the county and city governments” was established. The maximum was subsidy was set at NT$2 million per county or city, and the county or city government is to come up with at least 20 percent of matching fund.
  6. “The second agricultural technology trade show at the southern district” was conducted.
  7. The demonstration workshop on the security and self-defense deployment in the financial institutions was held.
  8. A month-long, nation-wide tree-planting campaign was kicked off to help increase the green land. For the occasion, President Chen Shui-bian planted an endangered coniferous species that is endemic in Taiwan, Podocarpus costalis, in the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park.
  9. The “Taiwan Delicate Fruits 2007” program was launched, and the online addresses of 15 county and city governments’ selling platforms announced.
