  1. Typhoon Krosa wreaked worst havoc in the agricultural sector. To compensate the loss, Miaoli, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Taichung, Taitung, Yilan, and Pingtung counties, and Chiayi City were offered with cash relieves and low-interest loans; and Hsinchu County and Tainan City with low-interest loans.
  2. The headquarters of the Fisheries Agency was transferred to Kaohsiung City, whereas it also maintains a branch office in Taipei City for a comprehensive service to the country.
  3. The COA announced the operation details on the "Science-based Agribusiness Start-up Investment Plan.” The plan calls for NT$10 billion investment within five years to nurture the development of agricultural enterprises and to transform the agricultural sector.

  5. The Financial Supervisory Commission of the Executive Yuan ruled that the deposit insurance premium would be reduced, which will light the burden of credit departments of more than 200 farmers’ associations.
  6. “Gala” apples from France were returned after the codling moth larva was found in the shipment of 1,029 boxes. The COA has notified French government to stop shipping apples to Taiwan before their quarantine measures are improved.
  7. The 2007 International Symposium on Traceability of Production and Marketing was conducted.
  8. The 2007 International Symposium on Slopeland Disaster Prevention was well attended with participants from Austria, Italy, Japan, Slovenia, Germany, Thailand and Taiwan.
