Chinese Cabbage

Chinese cabbage was originated in China, and later traveled with the forefathers to Taiwan. After an improvement in species and technology, Taiwan has learned to cultivate this product throughout the year. Production concentrated in southern Taiwan: Changhua, Yunlin and Jiayi counties. Winter production has exceptional quality and low prices, welcomed by consumers. 

Chinese CabbageTaiwan has various types of cabbages with excellent quality. Through relentless improvement and research, anti-heat and anti-insect species have been developed. It not only eliminates many problems but also extends the storage time for a longer marketing period and freshness.

Taiwan has three major types of cabbages:

1. Baoshin/Hug Heart Cabbage, a smaller cabbage with leaves pack tightly together, very crunchy and sweet, suitable for stir-fry.

2. Shandong Cabbage, oval shape, large size, up to 12 kg, suitable for hot pot, marinate.

3. Tianjin Cabbage, long shape, rougher in texture, suitable for marinating, rich Vitamin A and C. It is commonly used for hot pot during winter and consumed by families.
