Sweet corn is a tropical agricultural product. Its growth requires sunshine and warm weather and is mostly cultivated during spring and fall.

Recent years, the improvement in the quality of sweet corn has encouraged productions of corn with sugar content from as much as 10% to 12%. It is suitable for soups and BBQ. After dehydration, it can be made into dry corn pieces and sweet corn ice cream, well liked by Japanese consumers.
