Enthusiastic signing up for ‘Gardener Project’ prompts Council of Agriculture to add classes
The Council of Agriculture will start the “Gardener Project” in September this year. Since Aug.15, when this project started to accept application, it has received enthusiastic application. This overwhelming response has prompted the Council of Agriculture to decide to increase the training batches from one to ten as a response to the people’s clamor.
COA Minister Su, Jia-Chyuansaid that the invitation for application to join the “Gardener Project” was posted on the website of the COA’s Agriculture and Food Agency on Aug.11. The training originally is to accommodate only 40 persons. But the slots were filled up on the first day of the application and people continued to register until Aug. 20. The applicants has reached 398 persons.
Therefore, COA has decided to increase the training batches to 10. Five trainings will be held at the Agricultural Research Institute and five at the Livestock Research Institute for the convenience of the participants.
The Council of Agriculture stressed that the number of participants has exceeded expectations and this is a clear indication of the keen interest of people in agriculture business. , which is also shown how agriculture is turned importance in society nowdays. More than half of those who have signed up are university graduates. . Intellectuals appeared interested in the field of farming too. The happy gardener’s dream appeals to them. As for the occupations of the registered participants, they turned out to be in: public service, education, service industry, technology information, manufacturing, etc. There were also a few colleges or universities lecturers and high-tech millionaires in the list, proving that Taiwan’s agricultural technology and environment were of considerable appeal to the above-mentioned groups.
