The Council of Agriculture (COA) noted that Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI) is scheduled to hold celebration activities and a seminar on long-term ecology on October 31 and November 1 at Fushan Research Centerand invite guests to share Fushan Botanical Garden ’s long-term ecological research achievements in celebrating the 20th founding anniversary of the research center.

Fu-Shan Botanical Gardengoverned by Fushan Research Centerunder TFRI is one of a few open ecological fields where visitors can watch the natural beauty of plants and behaviors of wild animals in Taiwan . Since its opening to limited number of visitors in 1993, the botanical garden has had important demonstrative effects in promoting conservation and environmental education.

In addition to operating the Fushan Botanical Garden, TFRI Director Yue-hsing Huang said the Fushan Experimental Forest managed by Fushan Research Center is also the first long-term ecological research base in Taiwan. Since the National Science Council promoted the integrated long-term ecological research plan in 1993, Fushan Research Center has published more than 200 study reports and dissertations, which is quite an achievement. TFRI has invited scholars and experts to systematically demonstrate important research results by this base in the Seminar on Retrospect and Prospect of Fushan Experimental Forest Long-term Ecological Research when the Fushan Research Center celebrates its 20th founding anniversary.

Director Huang added that the Fushan Research Center will cross the chasm between ecological research and nature education in the future, gradually transforming related research achievements into “materials for nature education in Taiwan” to serve ecological travelers and nature education groups. This will highlight the distinguishing features of Fushan Botanical Garden management which covers research, conversation and education.
