The implementation of the amendment to the aged Farmers’ Welfare Subsidy Temporary Act was promulgated 28 December 2005 by the President. According to the amendment, the amount of subsidy will be increased from $4,000 to $5,000, and the act will be implemented since 1 January 2006.

According to the COA, the subsidy for aged farmers will be transferred to their banking account on the 20th day in the following month. That is to say, the subsidy of $4000 for December 2005 will be deposited to the banking account of aged farmers on 20 January 2006, and the subsidy of $5000 for January 2006 will be deposited to their banking account on 20 February 2006. To ensure that aged farmers can receive the adjusted amount of subsidy of $5000 a month since January 2006 before the Chinese New Year, the COA will advance the release of the subsidy for December 2005 to January 16 and the subsidy for January 2006 to January 27; that is, aged farmers can collect $4000 for December 2005 on January 16 and $5000 for January 2006 on January 27.

The COA added, the government wishes that aged farmers can have a happy and warm Chinese New Year by giving them the subsidies earlier.
